Matzolah Granola for Passover? You Bet!

Matzolah Granola for Passover? You Bet!

This Passover, you can have your granola and eat it too!

Gluten free, all natural, kosher granola, that is. We are thrilled that Foodman’s has expanded their kosher Matzolah line to include a tasty Cranberry-Orange Gluten Free variety just in time for what may be the most challenging Jewish holidays food-wise. This KOF-K certified and  dairy free (pareve) granola couldn’t have come at a better time.

After hearing about this product, I sat down to give all flavors a shot, starting with the new GF Cranberry-Orange.

It had a nice nutty crunch and whole dried cranberries dotted the mix adding a soft, chewy textural contrast. Dried orange peel provided fragrant tropical notes.  This will be heavenly for those with gluten intoleranceyou would never know!

My favorite, hands down, was the Whole Wheat Maple Nut flavor. The almonds, raisins and maple flavors were pronounced while the coconut, nutty flavors of the walnuts and pecans were easy to detect. Here is crunchy, flavor-jammed goodness all in one, just the way I love it.

The texture was most like cereal; I was compelled to toss it into my favorite bowl and give it a drive with milk. It was delicious. I would certainly love to have this as a topping on Greek yogurt with some fresh berries mixed in, also.

While the Maple Nut (different from the aforementioned Whole Wheat Maple Nut) was not my favorite of the three flavors due to a strong coconut essence, it was chock full of raisins, walnuts, and pecans, which I appreciated.

Don’t just take my word for it…their impressively nutritious and innovative line has won several awards over the years, including New York Food Review Magazine’s 2014 Healthy Product of the Year, Best kosher Passover product prize by Jamie Geller of Joy of Kosher in 2013, and Best 2012 Passover Product at Kosherfest. Congrats!

You can find them at national stores such as Whole Foods and ShopRite, or you can simply order directly from their website.

For a fantastic, chocolatey, non-dairy, nut -free snack or dessert during Passover, check out my friend Shoshana Ohriner‘s recipe for Cranberry Orange Matzolah Bark, below.

I met Shoshana a couple of years ago at my first Kosher Bloggers’ Conference. I was a newbie and she was a warm, friendly face in the crowd. We hit it off and found that we have much in common, especially our passion for seasonal, all natural ingredients.

I follow her blog, Couldn’t Be Parve, religiously. Check it out for her imaginative, original, always dairy free recipe ideas. You’ll never find any compromises in flavor and you’ll certainly never find anything less than natural ingredients.
