Cedar Planks for your Man at the Grill

Cedar Planks for your Man at the Grill

Does your man like to hang by the fire and flip whatever it is that his family and friends love to eat? I’ve found the perfect gift for him (or you) and I’m giving it away!

NW Plank Co. is a family business doing it all the right way. They make cedar planks by hand, from trees on their family farm in Oregon. And you know they are untreated if I am featuring them here. These planks are generously sized at 6 x 12 inches and may be used to grill or bake fish, poultry, steak, veggies and fruit.

Why grill on a plank?

The result is more moist, flakier (if fish), slightly woodsy with a hint o’ citrus kind of flavor. Soak the planks in water, wine or marinade and  top with your favorite food. Place the plank directly on the grill and taste the difference.

Did I mention that Mike at NW Plank Co. plants more trees than he harvests each year? Since 2000, they’ve planted 2500 trees!

To win a package of four cedar planks it works like this:

Leave a comment below.

Tell me what your guy (that’s BFF, Dad, hubby, son, brother, neighbor)  loves to sear on the barbecue. Does he experiment with new ingredients or techniques when summer approaches? Who’s the grill maven in your family?   KLM readers want to know your story!

For a second chance to win, leave a comment on my facebook page and “like” me there. Already friends? Leave a comment on my facebook page.

Be sure to tell me HERE that you have done that.

Contest ends at 7 AM on June 10.  The handy Random Number Generator will select the winner.  If you are the lucky winner , I’ll contact you by e-mail for your address so I can pop these cedar planks in the mail to you on time for Father’s Day.

Watch my facebook page for recipes from NW PLANK. I am hankering for his Cedar Orange and Bourbon Salmon and plan on sharing it with you.

  1. Hubby doesn’t BBQ – I do – and I love grilling veggies like portobellos and squash and peppers in addition to pesto marinated chicken breasts. We live in NYC in a large apartment building and we are not allowed to have a gas or charcoal grill on our balcony, only electric. I found a great electric grill that rivals any other type and we are grilling strong!

  2. My guy does the grilling…thats when I get a break in the kitchen. Fish or chicken. Easy does it with EVOO and simple spices. We ‘kick it’ off the grill with home made cilantro pesto.
Add roasted zuchinni with fresh parm and thats it; our favorite summer meal.

  3. My husband’s grilled lemon chicken is always a hit year round. Have grilled salmon filet (leave skin on and grill skin side down) marinated in teriyaki sauce on a cedar plank. It’s transformational!!
