When food blogger, social worker, activist Whitney Fisch springs into action she takes a stand and amplifies it via her 18,000 plus followers on social media. In response to the outrageous increase in attacks on the Jewish community worldwide, I join her movement to Bake a Stand by auctioning off my classic Holiday Apple Cake.

Over 60 bakers across the USA, some pro and many not, have joined as a collective of people who stand as a diverse community to fight all forms of antisemitism and hate.

Bake a Stand: Bake to end anti-semitism

The Bake a Stand virtual bake sale will support The Holocaust and Humanity Center in Cincinnati, whose mission is to educate about the Holocaust, remember its victims, and act on its lessons.

Each blogger, writer, baker, activist is selling or auctioning his/her/their baked items to benefit the center.

Do we think that a bake sale will conquer this age old prejudice? Of course not. But we hope that awareness and education around the rising threat of antisemitism will reach reasonable and responsible citizens who choose to voice their outrage in their communities and across their social channels.

Here’s how to help:

Make a bid to purchase the Holiday Apple Cake* shown here. The image and recipe was published in Hadassah Magazine in August of 2020 and it was my most “liked” post ever!

Enter your bid (dollar amount) in the comments below. Feel free to watch the bids and and increase them if you really want this moist, classic holiday cake. You can also play on instagram @kosherlikeme.

The auction will close on June 11 at 5 PM and I’ll award one freshly baked cake to the highest winner. Please honor your bid and know that I will match your bid to double the donation to The Holocaust and Humanity Center.

USA mailing addresses, only.

Once I announce the highest bidder and we connect, you may make a tax deductible donation directly to the museum for that amount. I’ll match your donation so we can double the impact.

Not interested in playing? You may make a donation to the museum at any time. Be sure to let them know that it is part of the Bake a Stand campaign.

If you live in CT or Westchester County, NYC, I’ll deliver the cake to you. Bidding from afar? I’ll ship the cake to you on your requested date.

This *Apple Cake is loaded with chunks of freshly picked apples. It’s dairy free, baked in my kosher kitchen at home and even better when baked 1-2 days in advance. Want it for the High Holidays? I’ll calendar it and bake it for your holiday table!

Want it stat? If you’re the highest bidder, you let me know when and I’ll break out my mixer to meet your schedule.
