Warm up with Winter Cooking Classes

Warm up with Winter Cooking Classes

Contributed by Katy Morris

As December’s temps drop we head straight to the kitchen for some extra warmth and long afternoons exploring new ideas and re-visiting old favorites. Looking for inspiration? We love to amp up our game by learning from the experts.

In that spirit, here’s our annual end of the year kosher-friendly cooking class round up. We believe it will satisfy all of your culinary curiosities – at least until next year!

Have you found other classes that would tantalize like-minded eaters? Please share in the comments, below. We’re always looking for classes that are kosher or kosher friendly (fish, vegan, vegetarian or baking sessions). We’ll be keeping the conversation going on facebook, too. Be sure we are friends, there!

This class is sure to cut down on the number of take outs you call in when that Indian food craving creeps up. Chef-Instructor Jennifer Clair will demystify classic spices and techniques in her Indian cooking class at Home Cooking New York, where you will learn to make braised cauliflower and chickpeas in a tamarind-coconut curry, matar paneer (curried peas and tomatoes with fresh cheese), red lentil dal with tadka (spiced butter), fresh cilantro-mint sauce and basmati rice pilaf with whole spices.

Trained at NYC’s Pure Food & Wine, Chef Hadas Margulies offers personalized, hands-on cooking classes right in the comfort of your own kitchen. While you are free to collaborate on the exact menu items, this Chanukkah she is whipping up detoxifying latkes, healthy raw vegan desserts, and creative side vegetable dishes, all with immune-boosting spices and fermented ingredients (which is “really great for the gut, especially during the holidays when people tend to overindulge,” she says). Check out her website and give her a ring to set up your private cooking class.
